The otherworldly 2020 Leirana Finca Genoveva is closed, ungiving and austere, precise, chiseled and sharp, with precision, energy, light and depth. It's an amazingly young Albariño that showcases they granite soils of Rías Baixas. It's still quite young and should prove with time, but like all the great wines in the world, it should be drinkable through its life. And it should be quite long lived. This comes from very old vines on pure granite soils. It has 12.5% alcohol, a pH of 3.05 and close to nine grams of acidity. The wine fermented and matured in well-seasoned, neutral 2,500-liter oak barrels with the lees for one year. 5,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in August 2021.

En boca es un portento, acidez descomunal, amplio, opulento, llenando todo el paladar. Paso por boca ligeramente lácteo, con un retronasal frutal, piña, plátano, ciruelas blancas y manzana verde con recuerdos florales de jazmín. El post-gusto cítrico con una persistencia increíble para un blanco, casi tres minutos y medio. Gran Albariño, espectacular en boca, elegante, corpulento y muy distinguido.

Brilliant winemaking
This wine's balance is close to perfection. It has a wonderful mineral spine (you do feel the granit) around which we get flavours of quince, lime, lemon peel, grapefruit and over-ripe pear. Immensely dry but full of subtle and penetrating flavours this wine will grow over the next five years and more. Forjas del Salnés is producing some of the best wines in Spain at the moment.

En nariz los aromas asidrados dominan en un vino ya de por si desequilibrado.La flor no se percibe; lo cual no es un problema, pero cuando el slogan para vender el vino es precisamente la crianza bajo flor pues las expectativas son otras.En resumen, en este vino no hay un buen trabajo.Muy sucio en nariz.Y por cierto soy fan total de Rafa.Me quedo con sus tintos.

Du fruit...
j'étais impatient de goûter cette bouteille après la belle rencontre avec "A Escusa" du même producteur. Ce vin transcende les qualités du précédent, avec des arômes citriques et une concentration décuplés. La bouche est bellement structurée, avec une colonne vertébrale acide qui laisse le palais désireux de retenter l'expérience. Une très belle bouteille...
